¿Sabías que Lopez de Santa Anna Introduced Adams to Chiclets?

While New Jersey native, and glass merchant, Thomas Adams can be credited with having patented the first chewing gum manufacturing machine back in 1884, it was through Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna that Adams first knew of “chicle”.  At the time, Thomas Adams worked as Santa Anna’s secretary when the Mexican leader visited New York City in 1869.
